Trump Takes on a Side Gig in Singapore

During their lunch meeting, Kim asked Trump if he could lend Sara Huckabee Sanders to him as his spokesperson during the Singapore Summit.  In an unprecedented act of subservience, Trump suggested that he, Donald J Trump, would be more than happy to take on the job as Kim’s mouthpiece.

Throughout the short time in Singapore, on numerous occasions… at news conferences, interviews, press briefings and statements, Trump praised Kim Jong Un in the most flattering, obsequious terms possible. A sampling of Trump’s flattering statements follows:

1)       “[Kim’s] country does love him. His people, you see the fervor. They have a great fervor.”
2)      …And North Korean people “love” Kim back.
3)       “Well, he is very talented. Anybody who takes over a situation like [Kim Jong Un did at 26 years of age and is able to run it and run it tough. I don’t say it was nice, I don’t say anything about it, he ran it”.

4)      “Great personality and very smart. Good combination. He’s a worthy negotiator. He’s negotiating on behalf of his people, a very worthy, very smart negotiator, absolutely. And we had a terrific day, and we learned a lot about each other and about our countries. I learned he’s a very talented man. I also learned that he loves his country very much.”
5)      “He’s a funny guy, he’s very smart, he’s a great negotiator.”

6)      "I do trust him, yeah,"
7)      Trump told reporters he and Kim "have developed a very special bond."
8)      “North Korea did a great thing by going to the Olympics”
that North Korea’s involvement in the Games led to tickets selling “like wildfire,” adding: “North Korea did a great thing by going to the Olympics. . . It was a great success. He did a great thing”
“They went to the Olympics. They took an Olympics that was going to be a massive failure that maybe wouldn’t have even opened, and they made it a tremendous success by agreeing to participate. Add that to the list of things that they’ve done.”
9)          “As an example, they have great beaches. You see that whenever they’re exploding their cannons into the ocean, right? I said, ‘Boy, look at the view. Wouldn’t that make a great condo behind?’ And I explained, I said, ‘You know, instead of doing that, you could have the best hotels in the world right there.’ Think of it from a real estate perspective. You have South Korea, you have China, and they own the land in the middle. How bad is that, right? It’s great”

10)   “Really, he’s got a great personality,” Trump told Voice of America contributor Greta Van Susteren after the historic summit. “He’s a funny guy, he’s very smart, he’s a great negotiator.”
What is not surprising is that Kim “loves his people,” Trump said.

On Air Force One, returning from Singapore, Trump received congratulations from VP Pence, Devin Nunes and Scott Pruitt; he also took calls from Vlad Putin and Xi Jinping giving him an A+ for his performance.
Notably absent were congratulatory calls from S Korea, Japan or the G6 Heads of State.
